CAF Combat Simulator Free Trial
Thank you for volunteering to participate in the CAF Virtual Colonel User Acceptance Trial. Our current plan is for the trial to begin in mid- to late-April, and it will run for about 6 months at no cost to you or the CAF.
The primary feature of the proposed Virtual Colonel membership package is access to a CAF-Branded version of ACES HIGH from HiTech Creations – the most comprehensive and historically accurate WWII Combat Simulator available. I will provide registration info when we have a firm launch date. All CAF members are welcome to participate in the trial, and you are welcome to invite non-member friends, neighbors, and colleagues to join with you!
The objective of the free trial period is to build a large active user base before we start advertising externally. The ultimate objective of the Virtual Colonel Membership program is to attract thousands of new younger members from the roughly 300M Americans that don’t live within commuting distance of a CAF Unit, and who spend a large percentage of their free time on their connected devices. Beyond the US market, there are a lot of other countries and potential members that were impacted by WWII. This could become a substantial source of recurring revenue for both HQ and individual Units.
You can start getting ready for the trial by ensuring you have a computer that is capable of running the program. It is a full-fledged flight and combat simulator and requires significant memory and graphics horsepower. The good news is that just about any desktop computer less than 3 or 4 years old can be upgraded with a new video card for $150 or so, or $250 if you want to run a VR headset. Click here for minimum requirements.
You can ‘fly’ with just a mouse and keyboard, but a gaming joystick makes it easier, and a lot more realistic. Single joysticks start at $35, combination throttle/joystick kits start at $55, and for ultimate realism, you can add rudder pedals starting at $100. If you’re comfortable buying refurbished equipment, you can get the cost down quite a bit.
If you can’t wait for the official trial to start, you can Click here to download the Aces High software. You can try out the online battle arenas free for two weeks, but offline missions are always free (this is where you can learn without everyone laughing at you 😊. (You’ll have to download the CAF version and register again when the trial gets underway.)
